Wanted items that weren't in stock in the store. The salesperson was super helpful - placed an expedited order, gave us a military discount, and promised a receipt by email. The email receipt never came, and the day before scheduled delivery I got nervous. It took three store employees (including the manager) nearly half an hour to get me an order number but they still couldn't give me a receipt. I called the warehouse with my order number and found that the order was now scheduled to be shipped the day it was supposed to be delivered, arriving too late for the trip I needed the equipment for. LLBean failed me at every step once the order was placed.

Quality has become a major issue. I have purchased over the past 2 years a range of products robes, boots, sweatshirts. All have been very disappointing. The flannel robe was very thin, poor stitching and flyaway threads. The duck boots I purchased were missing stitching on the back flap, the sweatshirt was basically the same quality I could get a walmart for a third of the price. I am very nostalgic about LL Bean and tonight yet again I found myself going to their website to look for new pants. I had to force myself to leave because I can no lo get trust this brand. So so so sad.

This company would have gotten an enthusiastic 5 stars in the past, but their quality has steadily gone downhill in the past 15 years or so.
I'm one of those rare birds who detests shopping. I could always count on LL Bean's products to fit well, be of good quality, and be an affordable price. Not anymore.
Some of their clothes are still okay but some aren't. It isn't something you can count on. As an example, I have worn their corduroy Big Shirts for years. I loved them as a lightweight jacket and had about 6 in different colors at any given time. They have since, inexplicably, discontinued that bestseller in favor of a supposedly "more flattering" Comfort Shirt that is a poorly designed imitation and definitely NOT more flattering. So disappointing!!

I have LL Bean dress shirts over 30 years old and they are now threadbare - finally. But the one's I've bought in the past 4 years last about two years before the material starts to tear on the sleeves and show serious wear spots on the collar. What gives? When I called about the first one it happened to, they said it is a one year warranty. So, they are a one year disposable dress shirt now?

I had purchased a number of items from LL Bean and was generally satisfied. However I had recently purchased an expensive pair of slippers that were absolutely subpar. My review was taken down because it "violated their rules". No specifics were given about what "rule" was violated and I did not see any that it could possibly violate other than painting their product is a poor light. I asked them to remove me from all their mailing lists and to their credit they did. Good riddance. If you can't handle honest criticism and reviews of your products than I won't be giving you my business.

Good site, little pricey. Always find something good. They are somewhat pricey compared to others. They do offer some unique items.

Where do I start? If you're a small, round person who likes to wait this company is for you.
I ordered a selection of tops from their Tall line and L.L.Beans concept of "tall" is laughable. They made the body *slightly* longer than average but forgot that tall people also generally have long arms. General fit is baggy and I honestly cant picture what body type these clothes would suit. Also, when it turned up, one of my hoodies had someone else's garbage in the pocket.
Shipping and processing takes AN AGE. I live in Canada but not remote (Southern interior BC) and it's been 5 weeks and I still havent received my refund. I sent my items back the day I received them. I got an email over week ago saying the company had received the items and I'd get an update telling me when my refund has been processed. Not sure why it takes over 7 business days to process a refund. Is my package just sitting in a cupboard somewhere?
Overall really disappointed and will not be shopping with them again. Dont bother.

My Mother purchased some shirts from LL Bean for me as a gift. I returned two of them and it was clear that the original form of payment should be reimbursed. Instead of their reimbursing my Mother -- on her original form of payment -- they sent me a "merchandise credit." I contacted LL Bean through chat, asking them to reimburse the original form of payment as was so clear on the original return. The chat CSR, Gary, told me that I would have to CALL them to get her card reimbursed. I asked why on earth they had not reimbursed her card when they received the return. He asserted -- not kidding -- that it was "against the law" to do so.

Fortunately I saved the chat whereby he made this ridiculous claim.
"Why did LL Bean not honor the return request? This is unacceptable. And it is not the way *any* other returns were handled by the merchants."

Gary: "Sorry, by law we cannot do that."

"So all other merchants are violating the law? You know that's silly. LL Bean simply wants the gift recipient to purchase more rather than reimburse the original form of payment."

Gary: "Sorry, we can only help you with the above solution."

LL Bean is making my elderly mother call them to get HER money reimbursed to HER credit card because they refused to do so either with the original return or after I contacted them by chat.

She will do so. But she also will no longer be ordering gifts from LL Bean nor will I be shopping there.

LL Bean lost TWO customers for life -- people who have bought thousands of dollars worth of goods over a thirty-year period. They must be *desperate* to engage in such shady practices.

LL Beans once legendary standard of quality has gone down the tubes. In recent years, they are using thinner and thinner fabrics and cheaper stitching.
Their sweatshirts are closer to long sleeve t-shirts. Sad.

MIL ordered a jacket for my husband for Christmas. Since it didn't fit, we returned it. UPS left it sitting in Nashua, CT for so long, LL Bean declared it lost and gave MIL a refund. Several weeks later, LL Bean contacted her, demanding the return of a gift card she was sent instead of a refund. Then, after driving this 89 year old lady to a panic, they declared they were voiding said gift card. Only she never got a gift card. She called us in a panic--we needed to shred the gift card. Again, like MIL, we never got a gift card. She got her refund and we thought that was it. Only LL Bean seems to believe in this fantasy gift card, so much so that they were willing to drive a poor old woman into a state of panic. Poor customer service--I would avoid LL Bean. Too many better options available.

We ordered house shoes understanding the would arrive after Christmas. Called 2-3 times and LLBean said they were back ordered. Called AGAIN today (2. 1. 2021) asking when they were to be shipped and LLBean said they cancelled our order! We were never told. NOT ACCEPTABLE LLBean. Why would we ever order from you again?

I don't know who love the bean boots more this old girl or her mom! This is my dog's go to spot in the garage!
